Ali Landry was glam and gorgeous in a black one shouldered Diva Couture gown, She Lide shoes, Michelle Monroe jewelry and an elegant updo on the red carpet at the Movieguide Faith & Values Awards in Beverly Hills on Tuesday night.
To look at her, you'd never guess that she barely made it there in time. 'The dress came like two minutes before I was out the door,' laughed Landry, who said a silent prayer as she did her hair and makeup: 'It better work with whatever comes in!'Landry, whose husband Alejandro Gomez Monteverde's film Bella, in which she co-starred, was a Movieguide winner two years ago, was invited back to present this year. While she’s still acting and will start shooting 'a big World War II film this summer, 'she’s been busy of late being mom to daughter Estela, 2, and working on her lifestyle brand, Belle Parish.
Louisiana-born Landry tells us that the line was inspired by the kind of girly, traditional, classic Southern-style outfits her mother has sewed for Estela since she was born.
Encouraged by admiring comments from 'people who were constantly stopping us, Landry decided to go into business with her friend, Annie Kate Pons. Starting with the girls' clothing line she launched last year, the brand will eventually include home products and a book series 'about a little girl named Belle who lives in Belle Parish—its about her travels, her experiences, and what she learns along the way.'
For Landry, it's an ideal situation. 'I always wanted to go into branding, and this was the perfect opportunity to do it and be a mom.' Right now, the line is in 60 boutiques across the U.S., with an online store opening 'in about two weeks' at BelleParish.com.
